Dr Tim Jones

Tim joined Community Energy Plus as a Director in 2009 before being appointed as Chief Executive in January 2013.

As Chief Executive his primary goals are to work with communities to effectively meet the growing challenges of a changing climate, and to ensure the world is a safe place for his grandchildren.

Drawing upon over 20 years of experience in charity administration and management, Tim brings high-level strategic and operational insight to shape the development and delivery of Community Energy Plus’ services.

A Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management (MInstLM), Tim has a PhD in Political Science, an MSc in Social Research and a BSc (Hons) in Politics.


Laura Tregonning

Laura manages the Energy Advice Team and coordinates the delivery of our energy advice projects. She also plays a key role in the development of new and existing projects and commercial services.

Laura initially joined Community Energy Plus in 2009 in the role of Communications Manager, bringing with her more than seven years’ experience of working on a broad portfolio of consumer, business to business and public sector clients.

Laura has a BA (Hons) in Public Relations and has completed NEA’s Energy Debt in the Community training.



Hannah Brigham

Hannah joined us in September 2020 and assists in taking telephone enquiries from people who need advice and support, including signposting, emergency measures, help with completing application forms and information on eligibility for available funding.

Having previously studied Fine Art at Falmouth University, Hannah has a BA(Hons) in Fine Art and is a keen photographer. Hannah has completed NEA’s Fuel Poverty & Health and Introduction to Domestic Energy Efficiency training.


Mel Eyers

Mel joined us in January 2019 and works on our Cornwall Energy Advice Service and Park Homes Plus advice projects.

Mel holds a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness 6281-01 and she has completed NEA’s Energy Debt in the Community training.


Emma Graham
Marketing & Communications Assistant

Emma joined us in September 2020 and assists us with our marketing and social media to help us ensure our advice and support reaches and is accessible to the whole community in Cornwall. Coming to us from an admin, marketing and wellbeing background, Emma takes a person-centred approach to marketing, with an empathic approach in understanding and connecting with people, and a focus on advocacy and autonomy.

Emma holds a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and has completed NEA’s Fuel Poverty & Health and Introduction to Domestic Energy Efficiency training.


Karen Leach
Caseworker: Energy Wise project

Karen uses her energy, drive and technical knowledge to help vulnerable households in Cornwall escape from the misery, anxiety and ill-health caused by fuel poverty.

She has almost ten years’ experience of providing phone-based energy advice for Community Energy Plus and in the last three years, Karen’s role has broadened significantly and she helped to shape and deliver our in-Home Advice, Hand-holding and Advocacy services. This includes our Big Lottery Funded Energy Wise Project which she now works within as a caseworker.

Karen has a BA (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Studies and a Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment, a City & Guilds in Energy Awareness and Renewables and an NVQ in Providing Energy Efficiency Services. She is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor and Green Deal Assessor.

Karen has participated in NEA’s Energy Debt in the Community training.


Susie Mackintosh

Susie joined our advice team in October 2020 after working for more than 30 years for the Department of Work Pensions, with the last seven years delivering the Cornwall Together for Families programme. She brings with her a wealth of experience in engaging with families and individuals with multiple and complex challenges and helping families overcome barriers and work towards their own positive outcomes.

Susie has an NEA Level 2 qualification in Fuel Debt Advice in the Community and is currently studying for her City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness 6281-01.


James Miller
Energy Advisor / Community Engagement Worker: Healthy Homes, Healthy People project

James joined us in October 2020 from a renewable energy background to work as a Community Engagement Worker on our Healthy Homes, Healthy People project. This role sees him delivering advice over the phone and going door-to-door in targeted deprived Cornish communities to help householders save money and access a broad range of projects and services provided by Community Energy Plus, together with other local and national organisations.

James’ qualifications include a MEng (Hons) Renewable Energy (ACSM) from the University of Exeter / Camborne School of Mines, City and Guilds 7304 preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector. He is currently studying for his City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness 6281-01.


Hugh Parkinson

Hugh joined the team as an Energy Wise Caseworker in February 2018. As one of our team of qualified energy advisers, Hugh will be using his skills to provide advice to people in Cornwall with their energy related issues. He is working on Community Energy Plus’ Energy Wise project and delivering Big Energy Saving Network workshops for householders and frontline workers this winter.

He has a BSc (Hons) in Geography, a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness and is a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor. Hugh has completed NEA’s Energy Debt in the Community training.


Annabelle Ray

Annabelle has a BSc in Psychology from the University of York and a MRes in Psychology from the University of Bath.


Nicole Solomons
Energy Advisor: Warmer Tenants Advice Service

Nicole joined the team in November 2020 heading our Warmer Tenants Advice Service team which provides advice and support for landlords and tenants to help improve the energy efficiency of private rented properties, including helping landlords achieve an improved rating on their property’s EPC.

Having worked for many years in the sustainability sector (including the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales and Marches Energy Agency in Shropshire), Nicole has also managed a number of European funded projects looking at improving the energy efficiency of buildings and integrating renewable energy technologies.

Nicole has a BA(Hons) in Political Economy, an MSc in Architecture: Advanced Environmental & Energy Studies; and she is also a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor and Green Deal Assessor. Nicole has completed NEA’s Fuel Debt Advice in the Community training.


Marc Staddon

Marc joined us in August 2019 and provides carbon and energy-related consultancy and diagnostic advice to SMEs and renewable energy project development in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

An experienced electrician who retrained to follow his passion for renewable energy technology and its role in resolving the climate crisis, Marc has worked in a number of project management, engineering, research and technical development roles for renewable energy installers and developers in the South West and Lithuania.

Marc has a MEng (Hons) in Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Exeter and an FdSc in Renewable Energy Technology from the University of Plymouth. He is a member of The Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET) and The Energy Institute (MEI) and is working towards becoming a chartered engineer.


Fergus Wright
Caseworker: Warm Homes project

Fergus delivers our Winter Wellbeing Warm Home Discount Industry Initiative project in partnership with Cornwall Council. As a Warm Homes Caseworker he provides in-home energy advice to vulnerable householders. His work is targeted towards receiving client referrals from health and social care professionals in Cornwall.

Before joining us in February 2019, Fergus worked as an Operations Executive for a local heating installer where he provided phone-based heating and insulation advice and customer service support.

He has a BSc in Renewable Energy Engineering, a Higher National Diploma in Environmental Science and a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Energy Awareness.
