Would you like to volunteer for an innovative health project? You could benefit from up to £300 of energy efficient home improvements as a thank you!
For people who spend most of the time at home, keeping warm in the winter and cool in the summer is an important part of staying healthy and happy.
If you, or someone you care for or know, struggle to stay warm in winter, or cool in the summer, then this project can help provide advice and help to enjoy a healthier home.
Who can Volunteer?
We are looking for householders who are at home for the majority of the day and worry about the cost of staying warm/cool, are ideally over 65 and have a respiratory or cardiovascular condition.
What is available?
Volunteers will be provided with state of the art room monitors and thermometer badges and that alert the user that the room is too hot or too cold. An action plan will be provided to help the user identify steps to stay well.
How long do we need Volunteers for?
We are looking for volunteers from September through to November 2016.
What else can we support with?
One to one advice on staying warm and keeping energy bills as low as possible – in the home if needed.
We can fund a variety of practical measures to help you keep your home healthy and warm in the winter (and cool in the summer!) and reduce your energy bills, including:
- Heating repairs (eg broken boiler)
- Window repairs or replacement
- Draught proofing
- Extractor fans and dehumidifiers
- Chimney balloons and chimney sweeping
- Hot water cylinder jackets and pipe lagging
- Portable heaters (eg oil filled radiators)
The measures and help available will be dependent on individual need and circumstances and must be for home improvements which cannot be funded by other sources.
I rent my home – could I still benefit from this funding?
We can’t fund anything that is the responsibility of your landlord – if you are in doubt about what might be eligible, please give us a call.
