The 11th Annual Cornwall Sustainability Awards are underway, with applications now being invited until 21st October 2013. The awards have helped to establish Cornwall as a hub for sustainable innovation, efficient design and forward-thinking community projects. Previous winners have benefited from this highly regarded endorsement of their work, as well as the chance to go forward and seek national recognition off the back of the awards.

Community Energy Plus is pleased to be involved through sponsorship of this years’ Green Shoots New Business Award. This particular category is for new companies under 2 years old who are showing positive steps towards a greener future.
Gitty Ankers MBE, senior environment officer for the Environment Agency Devon and Cornwall and awards organiser, said:
“Cornwall has a great opportunity to lead the way in developing sustainable businesses and becoming a low carbon economy, and the backing of our sponsors is vital in helping us spread that message.”
The Green Shoots New Business Award was won last year by Caroline Robinson of Clear Mapping Co. Caroline said that, as well as helping her build a rapport with other like-minded businesses, the award had raised her profile with potential clients throughout Cornwall. “I have had enquiries around the world asking about the award and what I had to do to win it,” said Caroline, whose business provides clear, beautifully illustrated maps and skilled technical illustration.
Other categories available to enter include best individual and best product, and Sustainable Construction (Retrofit or New Build).
The award ceremony takes place on Friday 6th December.
Good luck to all entrants!
