Community Energy Plus will be flying the flag for Social Enterprises on Saturday 13th September as they take part in Cornwall’s first Social Saturday Market at White River Place, St Austell from 10am to 4pm.
Social Saturday seeks to raise awareness of social enterprise and encourage consumers to unleash their spending power and buy from social enterprises.
Social Enterprises which are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances, or the environment. They make their money from selling goods and services in the open market, but they reinvest their profits back into the business or the local community.
Other local Social Enterprises taking part in the Cornish Social Saturday Market include Community Power Cornwall and Ways with Willow. The Engine Room, who are a business support and development programme for social enterprises and small and medium sized enterprises in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, will also be hosting a Social Enterprise information point at the Truro Farmers Market on the same day alongside Little Kitchen Magicians, Scott & May and Nurture Green.
