Park Home residents in West Cornwall who are worried about energy costs and staying warm and well this winter are being encouraged to attend a free information and advice event at the Heartlands Project, Pool on Friday 16th October.
The event is being organised by Community Energy Plus, the Cornwall-based charity which works to help householders reduce their energy use and ensure that they can afford to heat their homes.
Between 2pm and 5pm there will be an opportunity for park home residents to speak to Community Energy Plus’s advisors about how they can reduce their energy bills and combat condensation and mould. They can also pick up a free electricity monitor to help them to see their electricity usage around the home in real time.
Other local agencies will also be on hand to provide advice, including Age UK Cornwall who will be giving benefit entitlement advice and can help with Warm Home Discount Scheme applications and referrals to other Age UK local services. Cornwall Council’s Trading Standards and Licencing Departments will be available to answer questions and Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service will be attending the event to pass on safety advice to park home residents. Park home building specialists Therm-eco will also be available to provide information about insulating park homes.
Donna Cooper, Senior Manager at Community Energy Plus said: “Residents of park homes tend to be over the age of 60 and on low incomes. Their homes lose heat faster than conventional properties, and many rely on expensive fuel supplies to heat their home which means that many park home residents struggle with the costs of keeping warm and well. We hope that anyone living in a park home in West Cornwall who is worried about their energy bills will come along to this free event to access advice and information to help them achieve a warmer, healthier home with lower energy bills this winter.”
Multi-agency advice events for park home residents are also being held at Launceston Town Hall on Tuesday 10th November and at Kingsley Village, Fraddon on Tuesday 24th November.
