FREE Slow Cooking Workshops for Families with young children in Cornwall
Are you aware of how much energy you use in your kitchen? Fed up with rising energy bills? Let us help you understand your energy use and help you use less. The “Energy Fit Kitchens” project is an innovative approach to help you to do just this.
As the kitchen accounts for a considerable part of a household’s annual energy bill, the Energy Fit Kitchens project aims to help families cut their energy use and using a slow cooker is a great way of doing this. We will be hosting FREE Slow Cooking Workshops across Cornwall. With energy bills going up and up, there’s never been a better time to look at ways to save you money, and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.
If you have young children and are responsible for paying the household bills you will be eligible to attend one of our FREE Slow cooking workshops, and even have a slow cooker given to you to take home!!
Slow cooking is an energy efficient way to cook your food, learn how to turn inexpensive ingredients into a delicious family meal.
Here are some advantages of slow cooking:
– A slow cooker uses less electricity than an oven so you will save money
– You can use cheaper cuts of meat and it will still taste great
– Quick & simple recipes
– No supervision required, the slow cooker can be left alone to work its magic
– A convenient way of including your 5 a day of fruit and vegetables
Overview of Slow Cooking workshops
All of the ingredients will be provided to create your chosen meal as well as a slow cooker, which you get to keep!
Our workshops are run over two sessions, the first during the morning where some cookery demonstrations will take place followed by your opportunity to prepare your own slow cooked meal. The second session will be later in the afternoon where you will have the chance to sample some of the dishes prepared during the earlier session as well as collect your FREE meal and slow cooker. So there really is such a thing as a FREE MEAL!
Our advisors will be on hand throughout the entire day to offer advice on how to save energy and save money on your fuel bills; we can even help you switch energy suppliers. So if you are worried about rising fuel costs, how high your bills are, or perhaps you find it hard to understand your fuel bill, we will be able to help (bringing along your fuel bills on the day would help us provide you with the most accurate advice).
