What we do:

Our main aim is to reduce the carbon emissions that contribute to climate change. We promote energy efficiency and renewable energy, as well as working to reduce fuel poverty.

How do we do it?

Expertise in sustainable energy is our passion and our business; we're a charity as well as a company.

We pass on that expertise and constantly update it by learning from others. We're active in national and international debate too, but crucially - although climate change is a global challenge, our commitment is to Cornwall, and to making change locally.

So CEP gets involved; we're independent, but part of Cornwall's fabric and lifeblood. We're active everywhere, from grass roots, through strategic thinking to the highest levels of policy making.

RECENT PROJECTS:

Home Health

The concept of working in partnership with local councils and public bodies to maximise awareness and uptake of insulation schemes was pioneered by CEP in Cornwall almost a decade ago. This model continues to be highly successful and is now widely copied under a number of different names all across the country.

Social housing retrofit toolkit

This toolkit brings together the knowledge and experience of Cornwall's microgeneration companies and Housing Associations to show how sustainable energy technologies can be installed in the existing housing stock.

Hard to treat case study 2008

A hard to treat farmhouse in Cornwall was treated with various energy saving and renewable energy measures, improving the building's SAP from 6 to 62 and its running costs from £1280/yr to £315/yr.

Tamar Outdoor Centre

The retrofit of a ground-source heat pump to a hard-to-treat building in South East Cornwall.

Truro and Threemilestone Sustainable Energy Strategy

The strategy advises the council on ways that the proposed urban extension can create sustainable communities that have a low impact on the environment and bring social and economic wins for local residents and the Council.

Strategy (2.79MB)

Beacon Community Regeneration Project

Beacon Housing Estate in Falmouth, once a severely disadvantaged area of Cornwall, has been transformed through a programme of housing improvements.

Sennen School

Design, creation and construction of a combined Solar PV and wind powered installation to power two water pumps in newly developed garden all centred on an environmental theme.

Renewables in Action

Working with four community groups to educate young people on Renewable Energy and produce a solar energy project.

Hard to treat paper 2006

This paper describes the treatment options for improving the energy efficiency and affordability of homes that are not suitable for conventional loft and cavity wall insulation.
