Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS)

CEP and CoaST are delivery partners for Cornwall’s sustainable tourism Local Area Agreement (LAA) Outcome stretch target to enable a total of 233 tourism businesses in Cornwall to achieve GTBS accreditation by 2009. The LAA funds two GTBS business advisors, one based at CEP and one at CoaST.

GTBS is Europe's largest 'green' accreditation scheme for the tourism sector and has grown from its origins in Scotland to include hundreds of businesses.

Since the scheme started in Cornwall in August 2006, 135 businesses in Cornwall have become members of the scheme and 69 of these have already achieved accreditation. So far 27 businesses have been awarded Gold awards.
