Fuel Poverty

Cornwall has the highest rate of fuel poverty in the South West, with almost one in five households spending more than 10 per cent of their income on heating their homes.

Low income levels, rising energy costs and the high number of homes which are not served by the mains gas network means that over 39,000 households in the county are living in fuel poverty.

As Cornwall’s leading charity delivering local solutions to fuel poverty and sustainable energy, tackling fuel poverty has always been a cornerstone of our work. Our insulation scheme and heating programmes directly tackle fuel poverty in Cornwall and we work locally to raise awareness and provide training on fuel poverty and energy advice to frontline workers, volunteers and carers.
